Pride Cares PH Aids Elderly Trans Woman’s Return Home to Isabela

QUEZON CITY – On September 7, Pride Cares assisted an elderly trans woman, fondly known as “Nanay Ema,” in returning to her hometown in Maconacon, Isabela.

For years, Nanay Ema lived as a homeless person near the MRT Boni station, close to the De Oro Building where Open Table MCC once stayed.

Since its time at the De Oro Building, Open Table MCC had aimed to help her return home. Pride Cares then began planning her journey in June 2025. The team secured bus tickets for Nanay Ema and her adoptive son so they could travel together. Successive rains delayed the effort, but they were finally able to travel back to Isabela on September 7.

Pride Cares also provided grocery items and financial assistance to help her open a small sari-sari store for her livelihood.

This assistance was made possible through funds raised from the Drag Bingo fundraiser held last May.
